Peruvian chef, restaurant owner and music producer Martin Morales returns with a disc filled with delicious melodies from the Peruvian Andes. For this compilation, focused on huayno, carnival and cumbia from the period 1968 to 1978, Morales joined forces with Andres Tepla del Rio, an avid vinyl collector from Lima, and Duncan Ballantyne, co-founder of Tiger's Milk Records and formerly active with Soundway Records. In the track list a lot of illustrious bands with exotic sounding names like Los Demonios del Mantaro, Los Compadres del Ande or Conjunto Los Luceritos de Casacancha. Our favorites from the track list: 'La Mecedora' and 'El Lorcho' by the aforementioned Los Compadres del Ande, the catchy chicha with a rock twist by Los Walkers De Huánuco in 'Todos Vuelven', and 'Descarga Huanuqueña' by Los Jelwees. Another fascinating plunge into Peru's musical past.
