Boudewijn Büch, a Dutch author and notorious mythomaniac who passed away prematurely, often claimed Goethe, one of his great fascinations, was all-encompassing and omnipresent. 'BLNRB' (a combination of the airline codes for Berlin and Nairobi), a new compilation on the Out Here Records label, could prove him right, as this unique cooperation project between German (Modeselector, Jahcoozi, Gebrüder Teichman) and Kenyan artists (Mister Abbas, Nazizi, Lon Kimja, Jon), was actually sponsored by the Goethe Institute in Nairobi! The resulting album is an urban blend of mostly hip-hop with electro, drum & bass, dancehall and a slew of other influences (be sure to check the considerable contribution of some stray dogs on 'Living Room'). Innovative album in every way, but certainly not to everyone's taste. Interesting experiment.
