This first compilation album on Reggaewise may be considered the musical calling card of the Greek label specializing in giving lesser known Greek reggae and dub producers a chance. That being said, most of the names in the track list (Kaleya, Shastar, Professor Skank, Rowtical, Digital Monk...) of course won't sound familiar yet. Stylistically, this double compilation features ambient dubscapes like 'Dub Ra' by Athens based producer Kaleya (who, for the song, used samples from a speech by American Afro-futurist jazz composer, bandleader, pianist and synthesizer Sun Ra from 'Space Is The Place', a 1974 film by John Coney) or closing track 'Rain Dub' by Indamouse, minimalist dub by Wosui in 'Meli Dub', UK stepper-like dub like 'Bass Takeover' by 4Dub Vibes or even industrial sounding dub like opener 'Singing Birds Ina City Cage' by Patras based producer NSD. Our personal favorites are 'Sensimilia' by Professor Skank, a ganja dub in which both fragments from Linval Thompson's 'I Love Marijuana' and Eek-A-Mouse's 'Anarexol' can be heard, 'Chatty Chatty Dub' from the Thessaloniki based Digital Monk, and finally the laidback melodica dub from Musinair in 'Wolf Lake'. Dub sta Elliniká ("Dub Greek style")!
