Amateurs of the digital eighties sound of producers like King Jammy, Steely & Clevie, Gussie Clarke and Bobby Digital pay attention, because this new compilation on Kris Kemist's Reality Shock Records label is right up your alley! 'Ketch A Fire' opens with 'Allstar Freestyle Medley', a killer tune featuring Blackout JA, Bobo, Deadly Hunta, Solo Banton, Kingjay, Daddy Freddy, Tippa Irie and General Levy verbally battling it out with one another. Eight the hard way is hard to top, but the track list contains a lot more highlights. With 'Walkaton' Jah Screechy pays tribute to all those who, like yours truly, have to make do without a car or bicycle, Errol Bellot opted for a clash tune with 'My Sound', Dixie Peach pays tribute to the genre with 'Digital Style', and Reggae General does the same with "all things Jamaican" in 'Jamaica A Mi Yard'. The omnipresent King Kong, surprising friend and foe earlier this year with the excellent Irie Ites produced 'Repatriation', also makes an appearance on 'Ketch A Fire' and with 'Teach Dem' signs for one of the absolute highlights in the track list. Songs like 'Turn We Loose', a duet by Speng Bond and Mikey Murka, and title track 'Ketch A Fire', were already featured on 'Up Deh', Speng Bond's 2017 album that was also released on the Reality Shock Records imprint, and 'Super Lyrics' and 'Full Of Lyrics', two offerings by Solo Banton, were released earlier this year as a 12inch. Kris Kemist concludes in style with excellent dub versions of 'Turn We Loose', 'Super Lyrics', 'My Sound' and 'Teach Dem'. Do the digital and 'Ketch A Fire'!
