For 'Stand Up People' the Asphalt Tango label for the first time collected a number of forgotten gems from Tito's Yugoslavia of the nineteen sixties and seventies. The tracks are all taken from the carefully compiled collection of 45 rpm records duo Philip Knox and Nathaniel Morris (together known as Vlax Records) were able to uncover on various flea markets or pulled from under the dust in the archives of the National Library of Serbia in Belgrade. The track list features well-known names from Balkan-music like Esma Redzepova or Saban Bajramovic, but also less obvious recordings like a few obscure Kosovar productions were given a place. Absolute must for Balkan fanatics!
