The Soundway Records label continues to amaze; after Nigeria, Ghana and Colombia, they're now exploring the colorful musical past of Thailand, back then still known as Siam. On 'The Sound Of Siam' the label highlights the period between 1964 and 1975. The fact that period more or less coincides with the Vietnam War is certainly not by chance, because it was during that period that Western influences blew a breath of fresh air in the South-East Asian music landscape (also see Dengue Fever). Fascinating exploration into the world of genres like luk-thung and molam!
