This collection of essential dubs from the Studio One vaults had been out of print for more than a decade now. 'Version Dread' first appeared on the now defunct Hearbeat Records label back in 2006, but the heirs of Studio One-founder Coxsone Dodd have meanwhile joined forces with Yep Roc Records and now present this reissue (made available both on CD and on red vinyl). Where the original track list still consisted of 18 tracks - including gems like 'Why Oh Why Version', the dub to Ernest Wilson's 'Why Oh Why', 'Fire Coal Version', a version of Mighty Diamonds' 'Mr. Fire Coal Man', 'Creation Dub', the dub of Burning Spear's 'Creation Rebel', 'Armagideon Version', the dub counterpart of Willie Williams' 'Armagideon' or 'Born To Dub', the version of rocksteady classic 'I Was Born To Be Loved' by Righteous Flames - then for this reissue two rarities in the form of an extended dub mix of Ernest Ranglin's 'Surfing' and 'Never Give Version', an extended dub mix of Carlton And The Shoes' 'Never Give Your Heart Away', were added. Dub essential!
