Victor Démé, the sympathetic Burkinabe troubadour, is back with a new album. 'Deli' was again recorded in Victor's trusted Ouagajungle studio in Ouagadougou but sounds richer than his self-titled debut (primarily due to the addition of a number of additional instruments like Fixi's accordion or Dimitri Artemenko's violin). 'Deli' also gives a glimpse into Victor Démé's other musical influences: the harmonica driven song 'Keeba Sekouma' and interlude 'Mais Ou Sont Les Dollars' are a nod to the films of Sergio Leone and the accompanying soundtracks by Ennio Morricone and 'Woyo Baya Guelema' is a funky afrobeat song with none other than Femi Kuti on sax. To give illegal downloaders an idea what the purchase of an album can mean for an artist like Victor, we'd like to add that Démé didn't invest the money he earned with his debut album in an expensive sled or expensive clothing, but used it to bring his daughters back to Burkina and provide his house with running water and electricity!
