William Vivanco could well be Cuba's best kept secret. The young dread from Santiago began his musical career with the Coro Madrigalista, lending his voice to works from Montiverdi to Pablo Milanes. Vivanco then spent some time in the Swiss city of Basel to master baroque singing techniques. As a member of Interactivo (a loose cooperation of the best young Cuban talents), William subsequently followed a very different musical path though. For 'El Mundo Esta Cambia'o' Vivanco collaborated with producer/saxophonist Robert Aaron (Wyclef Jean). William had sent Aaron a demo and Robert was immediately impressed by the complexity of the melodies he heard and the versatility of William's voice. The resulting album is by no means a straight forward son or nueva trova album, but is exemplary of the best Latin America has to offer: from Brazilian samba ('Samba De Los Cotuntos') over Argentine tango ('Anaconda') to Venezuelan joropo ('Que Guapanga').
