For this atypical reggae-soul album, veteran and bosom friend of Earl Sixteen, Winston McAnuff, joined forces with French band Java. McAnuff loves a gamble, something he proved a few years ago when he was able to convince some French reggae fanatics to produce and distribute his album resulting in the creation of the Makasound label! 'Paris Rockin'' is a distinct album to say the least, neither fish nor fowl. The songs and the instrumentation, with an often prominent place for the French accordion, are of excellent quality, but this remains an album for musical daredevils. In any case yours truly recommends trying something new every so often and 'Paris Rockin'' certainly leaves no bad aftertaste!
